Well, Aili’s now over 7 weeks old, and really starting to figure out she’s alive. You may chuckle at that, but it’s true: at the beginning she seemed so oblivious to anything other than her own needs.
Lately, however, she’s coming alive to the world. She is interested in looking at things and especially likes to look at faces. She’ll turn towards someone new, and if you move away her eyes will follow you. She still doesn’t seem to be aware of the cat or the dog, but I really do think that she recognizes Johnny and I. There doesn’t seem to be much interest in toys or things that make noise, and while she’ll reach out with a fist at something, she doesn’t yet grab for it.
She’s also becoming (even more) cuddly, and when she’s afflicted by her terrible gas pains (which STILL haven’t gone away) she really does seem soothed by being stroked and kissed.
She’s sleeping better – except for that damn gas – eating well, and wakes up with a big smile. And so do I!
Good morning sunshine!
